Wednesday 17 October: our SAPA Geniuses showed engineers from across the world how to become a One-Shot® Expert in just 4 steps.
17 October was a day to be remembered.
Our SAPA Geniuses, i.e. our engineers specialised in the production of One-Shot® components, were really busy: many professionals followed our 4-step itinerary and became One-Shot® Experts.
Thanks to our experts, they could get to the very heart of our company and to the fruit of many years of hard work: the One-Shot® method.
This is not only an engineering method to produce car parts.
It is a real corporate philosophy.
The whole company proceeded for years in one direction: innovating where no-one dares to do it.
Having the courage to take risks where no-one is yet doing so.
SAPA’s speciality is namely process-based; it is based on the way components are created, but also on the way they are planned so as to achieve the highest quality while reducing the number of production phases.
In this way, please allow me to say, we proved that innovation can be brought anywhere. Even where only few see opportunities.
Years ago SAPA was not yet the company it is now.
Its product range stretched over different sectors, like household appliances, which made up for an important part of the company’s turnover. But which also took away time, investments and energy from what we really wanted: revolutionise the automotive sector, for as much as we could.
And so yesterday was completely dedicated to the One-Shot® products, namely:
- ONE-SHOT® WINDOW FRAME, the first tailgate in the world to receive the Innovation Award in Detroit
- ONE-SHOT® ENGINE BEAUTY COVER, the only engine cover produced all-in-one
- ONE-SHOT® BICOLOR A PILLAR, the only bi-colour pillar moulded in just one step
- ONE-SHOT® C LOWER PILLAR, the biggest fully-automatically upholstered component
These are unique components because, when produced with the One-Shot® method, they ensure:
- Less costs
- Less weight
- More productivity
In line with the Horizon 2020 standards.
The best part of the day was the plenary speech where our SAPA Geniuses explained the features of the products obtained with the One-Shot® method to all the engineers present, and everyone had the chance to ask questions and listen to other people’s questions.
In this way, the visitors of the SAPA stand could not only have a one-to-one experience but also an opportunity to share and discuss with others, because we firmly believe in exchanging ideas. In our Innovation Engineering team, for example, there is no boss that gives firm instructions to everybody else, but everyone can and is expected to give their contribution.
This is simply because a different opinion is a way to look at the same things from a different perspective.
And the results were tangible: the engineers present at the stand all understood the strengths of our method and the benefits obtained by the car makers who have used the SAPA products.
It is not yet over, though. And we expect many more engineers to talk to and to exchange ideas with.
In the meantime, I was really happy to share our progress with you.
Kind regards,
Giovanni Affinita
Executive Director and Member of the Board of Directors at SAPA
