The ceremony took place on 22nd October at the Quirinal Palace in Rome. The 25 companies awarded represent not only the business excellence in Italy, but they are also proof of a different way to understand industrial development, i.e. as a driving force for human development.
Quirinal Palace: historic building in Rome, Italy, and official residence of the President of the Italian Republic
We received the news in June.
It was one of those incredible and wonderful things that you cannot quite fathom: how is this possible that this is truly happening to me? Very often we are so concentrated on what we have to do that we forget how big an impact can the “how” we are doing it have.
For my mother, this was never the case. And I think that this is the big merit of hers, that goes beyond the award.
As you may know, the Cavaliere del Lavoro acknowledgement rewards two fundamental aspects in our work.
On the one hand, it acknowledges the biggest business achievements in Italy, and on the other hand, it also acknowledges the companies that have a special attention for the human dimension and that take special care in how the business is run.
As far as SAPA is concerned, the company grew massively in recent years, both in the number of plants (10 in Italy and Europe and 1,700 employees) and in terms of turnover. It has developed its identity and specialised on something innovative but at the same time very much in demand. I am talking about the One-Shot® Method, that I am sure you have heard about.
The One-Shot® Method is the method that we created and patented and is considered to be the world’s fastest method to produce car parts. Thanks to the optimisation of the production process, this revolutionary method ensures that you can obtain high-quality parts:
- In shorter time;
- With less waste
- With less weight
And, therefore, less costs.
As I was saying earlier, however, the human dimension is probably the most important aspect that allowed us to obtain this acknowledgement.
My father’s mission was to always put people in the centre of any action. And we tried to build on this teaching as much as possible. Inside and outside the company.
My mother most of all.
She oversaw recruitment, she promoted lifelong learning for our personnel as a foundation for our business and she became the ambassador of a vision and of a modus operandi that today defines us and makes us stand out.
Besides all this, she never stopped working for the Angelo Affinita Foundation ONLUS, a not-for-profit organisation that has been promoting the potential of the local community and creating new concrete opportunities for young people in social or economic distress.
I could tell you about how proud I am to be part of all this. But I prefer to use the time to assure you that I will do all I can for these values to remain the non-negotiable pillars of our daily work.
Perhaps you’d like to take a look at some of those thrilling moments for our family and our company, for this reason I’m sharing a video highlighting the salient moments.
Enjoy watching the video.

Executive Director and Member of the Board of Directors at SAPA
