On August 1st, SAPA officially became a group worth €300 Million in revenue with over 1.700 employees. Growing further in the international market, and taking over a collaboration with Rolls Royce, Aston Martin and the BMW Group
Some dates you remember with or without a calendar.
There’s no holding back when you’re really looking forward to something: preparing, studying, putting all your efforts into such a rewarding activity.
August 1st is a day we’re going to remember at SAPA.
I don’t want to make you wait for it: SAPA has acquired the Selmat Group, a Tier 1 operator in the automotive field.
The Selmat group is specialized in the manufacturing of interior and exterior components for commercial vehicles, industrial vehicles, cars and agricultural machinery.
The acquisition concerned four different branches in Italy, all in Piemonte, with about 550 employees and a projected revenue for 2018 of over €107 Million, of which 50% is linked to export, with a strong focus on trucks and commercial vehicles.
As I was saying, it’s a very important day. You might be wondering why.
Thanks to this operation, SAPA is now a group worth about €300 Million in revenue, with over 1.700 employees.
We’re looking to expand our presence on the international market, much like we did in 2010, when we invested in Poland, on the collaboration with Volkswagen. Still, we remain very much rooted in our local territory.
Yes, because we love our family company, and respect our history.
While making the deal, we had to fight with very important and determined competitors, but we managed to solidify our position in Italy.
The operation had to go through the creation of a NewCo, to which the four company branches of the Selmat Group have been assigned. Then the NewCo shares were acquired by SAPA.
Our new goal is that of operating in the field of industrial vehicles, other than the carmaking industry.
As you well know, our company is driven by innovation and research.
Over the years, SAPA has developed an internal department known as “Innovation Engineering”, collaborating with University of Naples, University of Krakow and University of Salerno, on a quest for new revolutionary patented solutions.
All of this, following our One-Shot Method: the fastest method in the world for the production of car components.
It is an innovative method, ensuring top performances, while reducing costs and weight.
This method, allowed us to stand next to some of the most important European carmakers, earning trust one patent after another, while also being granted important awards, such as the 2017 Detroit TPO Innovation Award, where we reached the podium.
Acquiring the Selmat Group will be a new challenge and a new push, strengthening our position and our presence in the luxury cars industry, thanks to collaborations with Rolls Royce, Aston Martin and the BMW Group, other than our long-standing relationship with Ferrari.
We are very happy and proud to have reached this goal.
To us, it is yet another possibility to grow, investing on an ambitious and unique project.
